One of the lesser known services that Global Power and Construction offers is consulting. While it may not be well known or stressed, consulting provides a large amount of benefits in every pre-construction project. The first and possibly most important benefit of hiring a consultant is an outside perspective. An outside perspective offers a different view of the bigger picture and can help provide insight into what is or isn’t working. Additionally, they can provide a different outlook on the project to find shortcuts and time savers to save the customer money in the long run.

Another benefit provided through outside consultation is goal determination and achievement. Many individuals looking to undergo a construction project have pre-determined goals that need some type of modification to become realistic and optimal. A consultant will help you figure out where you are currently at, where you need to be, how to get to that point, and other essential goals. A consultant can then assist you in attaining those goals in a proper time frame.

Additionally, consultants provide other benefits such as confidence, accountability and faciliation experience. Consultants will help the customer build confidence due to the fact that they are viewing their projects from a different, but valid perspective. Accountability goes hand-in-hand with this boost in confidence as consultants generally provide a well respected and professional view of a project that can be trusted by any customer. Both of these benefits pave way for the consultant to facilitate the project in the proper way to accomplish the sought after goals. Consulting is a recommended step in any large scale or important project that an individual may have and the benefits from this process can save precious time and money.

Since we are an Illinois based company, the construction news of the surrounding area is of interest to us. One story popping up frequently in Illinois regards the massive infrastructure revamp that is scheduled to begin in 2014 and end sometime around 2019. The state of Illinois recently pushed the $12.6 billion dollar construction program through in order to improve many of the roads and bridges in the Chicago region.

The overall idea for the project came from Governor Quinn as part of his plan to create jobs while updating the state’s transportation system for the years to come. In the scheduled time frame, the plan intends to renovate 2142 miles of highway and either create or fix 517 bridges across the state. Further detail on the funding distribution of the plan can be seen by clicking here.

This news is certainly uplifting for the construction sector in Illinois as it will provide many jobs from the year 2014 to the year 2019 and provide a reconstruction of our beaten down infrastructure and roadway system. For more local news and news on the company, keep checking back into our blog!

With all the news about the recent growth in the stock market in comparison to the recent recession, the construction industry is beginning to make a breakthrough in some areas. According to an article published by CFO, residential real estate prices have seen their biggest growth in prices since 2006 when prices began to plummet. Although construction has grown in the past four years, it took off in the last year with a 18.2 percent jump in growth. Additionally, The National Association of Home Builders forecasts that housing starts will reach 975,000 in 2013 and 1,186,000 in 2014, up from 781,000 in 2012. To look further into this subject, take a look at this table showing the recent trends in construction sectors:
